I would like to thank the people of Winterton who have been so good to me over recent years. As some of you are aware, I have undergone major surgery and extensive treatment for esophagus cancer since January 2008. Like other people with this condition I often have much on my mind but when I walk down the street so many people stop and talk to me that life feels good again.

Winterton people are so nice and often exchange phone numbers with me so that they can ‘be there’ if I need anyone. The Town Councillors and Town Clerk Pam Dudson have also been a great help.

Although so many people have helped me I would like to pay a special tribute to two young ladies Mollie (15) and Rosie (18) Chidwick who have taken very special care of me for the last two years. Mollie and Rosie are my little teenage carers and they mean the world to me. When I have been unwell in the middle of the night they have rallied to my side and have even alerted the Emergency Services to provide an ambulance to take me to the hospital. Rosie has even stayed with me on the journey and both girls have visited me when I’ve been hospitalised at Grimsby. Caring is certainly in the Chidwick family as mum Charlotte helps out too and dad Dean is one of our Retained Firefighters.

I often feel that Winterton Teenagers get a lot of ‘bad press’ but I’m certain that Mollie and Rosie are not alone in their willingness to help. Winterton has many young carers who go out of their way to help others but we don’t seem to read much about them.

I am asking you all to consider our Winterton Youth and if you can spare the time to tell us about the good that we have in the Town, just drop an email to our Webmaster at webmaster@wintertoncouncil.co.uk and we’ll publish your account on these pages.

Many Thanks to you all

Councillor Mick Foster
