Scunthorpe & District Athletic Club

The Scunthorpe and District Athletic Club caters for and openly welcomes anyone from age 8 upwards of any ability, who has an interest in athletics. The club has a long and professional reputation for not only producing talented athletes, but as importantly for giving people the opportunity to improve their own personal fitness and wellbeing. There are already a number of Winterton residents who are club members and try their hands at the many and varied athletics events that the club has on offer.
The club is divided into a track and field section, which is based at Quibell Park on Brumby Wood Lane in Scunthorpe and a road running section that is based at Brumby Hall, Ashby Road, Scunthorpe.

The track and field section is generally where the younger athletes train in many disciplines including sprinting, middle distance running, long jump, high jump, shot putt, discus, javelin and hurdles to mention but a few.

Experienced and helpful coaches are on hand to guide athletes through their weekly sessions that take place on a Tuesday and Thursday evening from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Athletes have the opportunity if they choose to participate in numerous competitions throughout the season, whereby their skills are put to the test against athletes from all over the region. The end of season is generally marked by the club championships, which although competitive, are also a bit of fun to encourage further participation.

The road running section actively encourages newcomers to Brumby Hall. You will always be made welcome, irrespective of your ability, and will be guided through the early sessions by experienced coaches and fellow athletes. It is amazing what can be achieved after a few weeks of regular running with others of a similar mind! The road running section also has regular series of local races throughout the summer and winter, which are made special by everyone being encouraged by other athletes. The sessions start at 7 p.m. on a Tuesday and 6.30 p.m. on a Thursday.
