Please call at the reception desk of the surgery you intend to attend. The receptionist will give you a registration form and a health questionnaire to complete. Please complete these as soon as possible and return them to the surgery. You will then be given a registration appointment for all members of your family over 5 years of age. This will give you the opportunity to discuss any current health problems. Please bring details of any medication you are currently taking with you.
Every patient has a basic right to express a preference to be treated by a GP of their choosing within the practice. Where this is not so we will record this electronically. Patients expressing such a preference should understand that asking to see a named GP could well involve a longer wait. This is especially so given holidays, sickness, training courses and other factors.
APPOINTMENTS
Call or telephone during office hours. Please book a separate appointment for each member of the family who is coming.
All new patients will be offered a registration interview. It is normally possible to offer an appointment with a doctor for non-urgent cases within 24 hours.
If you wish to see a particular doctor, it is advisable to make an appointment well in advance.
In accordance with the Patient’s Charter, urgent cases will be seen that day by the duty doctor.
Broadly speaking urgent cases are serious, sudden and severe conditions that have arisen recently, which will not wait until you can see your usual doctor. Urgent appointments on the same day are reserved for these cases so please expect to make a routine appointment up to 3 days in advance. Also, you would normally be seen within 15 minutes of your appointment time. Where this is not possible an explanation will be given.
The main surgery for this medical practice is at Winterton.
A range of procedures are provided at the Winterton Surgery and it may be necessary for patients living in the surrounding villages to travel to Winterton on occasions to access these services, eg surgical, asthma, immunisation and baby clinics.
It will always be necessary for patients to travel to Winterton for treatment if necessary when the Burton Surgery is closed, eg on Tuesday afternoons or during holiday periods. Winterton Surgery telephone no: 01724 732202.

We can give you a much better service if you come to the surgery. If you lack transport, please ask friends or family to help. We do have evening appointments available when many people have finished work and may be able to bring you. By making every effort to come to the surgery you help us greatly to provide a better service for all our patients. Visits to patients’ homes will be made at the doctors’ discretion.
