After a number of years Winterton Town Council finally secured funding for the Ball Court on Marmion Drive.
The Biffa Environmental Company gave the council a substantial grant towards the cost of the equipment, the remainder being funded by the Town Council with grants from North Lincolnshire Council and the Winterton Improvement Network Group.
This is only Phase One of the development programme for Marmion Drive Play Area, the Council are now planning Phase Two which will be for the younger children on the Grangefields Estate and their friends from other parts of the town. Paul Hayes, the Scunthorpe United stricker opened the Park on Thursday 27th August 2009.
